Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Goaltender Carter Hart produced 26 saves and forward Spencer Gerth added a goal and an assist, helping lead the Everett Silvertips to a 3-1 victory over the Victoria Royals in the preseason finale at XFINITY Arena on Saturday night.

The Silvertips (5-2-0), matching last year's preseason record, knocked off the Royals (3-4-0) in both meetings and never trailed, one night after suffering a 7-4 defeat to Portland, with Hart bringing a sharp rejoinder from Friday by keeping the Royals scoreless in the first 34 minutes. Lucas Skrumeda added a pair of assists on the Silvertips blueline.

Devon Skoleski's rebound goal lifted Everett to a 1-0 advantage after Gerth set up Mackenzie Dwyer's point shot, which sailed through traffic and off the pads of Griffen Outhouse. With Hart posting ten stops in the first period, he and the Silvertips defense continued to frustrate the Royals until Matthew Phillips' shorthanded breakaway goal with 5:41 left in the second period to tie the game.

Everett's answer was Gerth's second goal of the preseason with 44 seconds remaining the second period, a screen at the net, which deflected off Jake Christensen's point shot.

The Silvertips managed to stay out of penalty trouble for a bulk of the third period and killed off an interference penalty issued to Gerth with 3:48 remaining before Matt Fonteyne buried Victoria and his fourth goal of the preseason. Fonteyne, finishing Patrick Bajkov's centering pass between the hash marks, lifted the Silvertips to a 3-1 advantage with 1:08 remaining.

Outhouse took the loss wth 24 saves.
