Bloomington Thunder News Release

MIDDLETON, Wisconsin - Rebounding with a 3-1 win, the Bloomington Thunder got a great outing our of goaltender Hayden Lavigne (University of Michigan) against the Green Bay Gamblers Saturday afternoon. Lavigne stopped 35 shots in the game to help Bloomington to a 3-2-0 record in the preseason.

Head Coach Dennis Williams and the Thunder needed a jumpstart going into the second and mixed up the lines for one shift. Logan Lambdin, Blake Gober, and Pat Curry opened the period and gave the Thunder just the start they needed, eventually sparking three unanswered goals for the win.

The first period was uneventful on the score sheet but did result in a power play for the Thunder midway through the period. Overall the Thunder had a tough time getting shots through to the net and relied on 13 saves from Hayden Lavigne (University of Michigan). However the Gamblers struck first with just over a minute left in the period. Joey Marooney slipped away from the defense and received a pass for a breakaway. The goal made it 1-0 going into the second.

Curry was the first to score for Bloomington at 9:19 when Jeremy Davies (Northeastern University) stepped in and fed him a one timer on the back door. Curry nabbed his first of the preseason to tie the game. At the halfway point of the game, goaltender Kevin Reich was replaced by Ryan Wischow (St. Lawrence University). Reich finished his game with 11 saves.

Moments after the substitution, it was another one-timer that gave the Thunder the lead. Will Harrison (St. Lawrence University) received a no look pass from Van Barr (Western Michigan University) from behind the net before putting it upstairs on Wischow at 13:52.

Harrison's goal would be enough for the win but the Thunder grabbed some insurance in the third period. Ethan Somoza (Bemidji State University) caught a backdoor pass from Lambdin for the tip in and his first preseason goal.

Lavigne held down the fort for the Thunder in between the pipes while Wischow was saddled with the loss making 10 saves in relief of Reich.

Bloomington takes on Madison for the final game of the preseason Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
