Generals Finish Preseason

September 19, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release

The final pre-season game was played at the Ajax community centre in front of 500 passionate Gens fans.

1st Period

The Oshawa Generals dominated the first period; the only shots the Hamilton Bulldogs were able to muster up were on the power play. Kenney Huether scored 15 minutes into the period, taking advantage of one of the three power plays the Gens had in the first.

Brodeur had to come up big once on a partial break, for the most part, team defence kept the puck away from the net. By the end of the period, the Generals were outshooting the Bulldogs 11-3.

Second Period

The second period started out with a dust-up between Templeton and Bricknell; both players landed heavy hits. After the fisticuffs had been sorted out, the Bulldogs started to tilt the ice in their favour. Eventually resulting in a penalty shot for Hamilton, Brodeur stood tall and slammed the door shut.

Fifteen minutes into the second Hamilton got on the board; Mendonca scored to tie than Hanley scored the go-ahead goal five minutes later. Hamilton had started to take full control of the game. The shots were 14 to 10 for Hamilton in the second.

Third Period

The third period got away from the Generals; Hamilton put three on the board to chase Brodeur, who went 20 for 25 in the game. By the end of the third the score was 5-1, and the shots were 27 - 26 for Oshawa.

Penalty trouble once again got the better of the Generals they were shorthanded six times tonight. Liam Devine stepped in with ten minutes left in the third and made two saves on two shots.
