Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Sugar Land Skeeters pounded out a season-high 15 runs in a 15-5 rout of the Camden Riversharks in front of 4,119 fans at Constellation Field. Patrick Palmeiro set the single-game record for RBI for the second-time this series with six on a ground-rule double in the bottom of the eighth. Kevin Russo tied the single-game record for runs scored with four. Additionally, outfielder Rene Moreda got on-base three-times the hard way with a trio of hit-by-pitches. The win bolsters Sugar Land's record to 66-70 on the year.

All nine starters for the Skeeters picked up hits and eight of nine recorded an RBI in the victory.

Camden claimed an early lead in the top of the first as Skeeters starter Michael Nix struggled with his command. Brandon Chaves took a two-out, four-pitch walk and Nix quickly fell behind 2-0 to Carlos Guzman. His next pitch was sent over the wall in right for a two-run home run, giving the Riversharks a 2-0 lead.

The Skeeters quickly responded in the home half of the inning. Kevin Russo beat out a wild pitch on a strikeout and stole second to move into scoring position. Johan Limonta drove a single back up the middle to score Russo and get Sugar Land on the scoreboard. Chris Wallace pulled a single into left to put runners on the corners before Travis Scott worked a walk to load the bases. Patrick Palmeiro rifled a single into the right-center alley to score a pair and give the Skeeters a 3-2 lead.

The Riversharks responded with a run in the top of the second to tie the game. Mat Gamel drew a walk to open the inning and Mike Kerns singled through the left-side of the infield. Following a flyout, Evan Crawford singled to right, bringing Gamel home to tie the game at three.

Sugar Land manufactured a run in the bottom of the second to regain the lead. Limonta and Russo logged back-to-back doubles to left to put the Skeeters up, 4-3.

The offense for the Skeeters exploded in the bottom of the third for seven runs to put the game out of reach. Sugar Land pounded out six hits and worked three walks to send 13 men to the plate. Russo scored his third run of the night and Palmeiro picked up his fourth RBI in the frame as the Skeeters took a commanding 11-3 lead.

Sugar Land tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Palmeiro picked up his fifth RBI of the game with a single deep in the hole to short while Wallace recorded his third RBI of the night with a sac fly, moving the score to 14-4.

To outdo his five RBI performance two nights ago, Palmeiro smashed Rockett's eephus pitch for a ground-rule double, scoring Limonta who tripled to lead off the bottom of the eighth.
