Tulsa Shock Announce TV Broadcast Crew for First Round Home Playoff Game

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa Shock has hired Don King to be the play-by-play announcer and Brenda VanLengen as the color analyst for the television game broadcast of the Shock's playoff game Saturday night. They will be calling the game live for NBATV.

King is now in his fifth decade of covering sports in Oklahoma and has been in Tulsa media since 1980. He has been with I Heart Media for the past 25 years and appears regularly on The Big Show, weekdays locally from 2-6 p.m. on Tulsa's AM 1430 THE BUZZ.

King also does extensive work calling radio and television play-by-play for the area high schools, colleges, and professional teams including the Tulsa Shock, the Tulsa 66ers (now OKC Blue, the Oklahoma City Thunder's NBA D-League team), and the three-time defending state champion Jenks Trojans football program.

This will be the first game VanLengen will be the color analyst for the Shock. She has broadcast women's sports events on television and radio since 1996. In the summer of 2013, she announced 15 events at the World University Games in Russia, including gold medal championships in women's and men's basketball, plus women's beach volleyball.

VanLengen's expertise and voice have been included on NCAA Tournament games on ESPN since 1996, she has announced FOX Sports broadcasts of Big 12 Conference women's basketball for 17 seasons. Known for her strategic analysis and ability to break down the X's & O's of the game, she has also operated the ART Super Telestrator for ESPN's coverage of the Women's Final Four® since 2005, the WNBA Finals since 2011 and selected NBA games since the NBA Playoffs 2012.

She also does play by play for the SEC network and ESPN during college basketball season. She has been the analyst for the Division II Women's Basketball National Championship seven times and the NAIA Championship three times.

The Shock begins the 2015 WNBA Playoffs versus the Phoenix Mercury in the first round Western Conference Semi-Finals this tonight, September 17 on the road. The game starts at 9 p.m. central time and will be nationally televised on ESPN2.

Tulsa hosts the Mercury at the BOK Center for game two in on Saturday night, September 19. The tip-off time is set for 8 p.m. local time to accommodate the game being broadcast nationally on NBA TV.

Tickets for game two in Tulsa are on sale now and range in price from $14 to $173. They can be purchased at the BOK Center box office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the box office on the day of the game four hours before tip-off, by visiting www.bokcenter.com, or by calling 918-949-9700.
