Phoenix Mercury News Release
PHOENIX - The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury were honored today by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey with a special recognition and well wishes for the team as they kick off the 2015 WNBA Playoffs tomorrow night.
Ducey honored the Mercury as the team opens up the 2015 WNBA Playoffs on Thursday at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The recognition included a special mention of The X-Factor as "the best fans in the WNBA" being key to the success of the team. Those fans helped the Mercury to a WNBA-best home record of 12-4 (.750) this season. A copy including complete text of the congratulatory message is below.
The Mercury are led by three 2015 WNBA All-Stars: DeWanna Bonner, Candice Dupree and Brittney Griner, and 2014 WNBA Coach of the Year Sandy Brondello. The team finished the regular season 20-14 (.588)- marking the first time in team history Phoenix has recorded back-to-back 20-win seasons.
Single-game tickets for Game 1 of the Mercury's opening round series are on sale now at PhoenixMercury.com and start at $12. Game 2 of the series will be played at BOK Center in Tulsa on Saturday, September 19 at 6 p.m. Phoenix time and, if necessary, Game 3 will be played at Talking Stick Arena on Monday, September 21 at 7 p.m. Phoenix time.
