Pat Wertz Re-Signs, Fever Add 3

The Tri-Cities Fever would like to announce the signing of defensive back DeMario Thomas (5'10" 210lbs) from Southern Arkansas University, linebacker Marcell Coke Jr. (6'1" 225lbs) from Norfolk State University, and defensive back Clarence Laster (6'0" 190lbs) from Southwestern Oklahoma State. In addition to the new signings, the Fever also re-signed defensive end Pat Wertz (6'4" 265lbs) from Eastern Illinois University.

DeMario Thomas is a rookie looking to make the Fever squad in training camp. A four year starter at Southern Arkansas, he amassed 188 total tackles and 5 interceptions for the Muleriders.

Norfolk State's Marcell Coke Jr. led the Spartans in tackles his junior and senior seasons from his outside linebacker position and was a key contributor on special teams. Marcell is from Orlando, Florida where he attended Wekiva High, and was All-Orange County and All-Metro while lettering all in both football and track every year.

Clarence Laster rejoins Coach L, whom he played for with the Wyoming Cavalry. A stand-out defensive back in college, Laster went to the NY Jets mini and training camps before heading to the indoor game.

Pat Wertz joined the Fever for the last 3 games of the season in 2015 making an immediate impression. Per the new IFL rule, Wertz will be considered a rookie for 2016 and is looking to build on his brief success with the team from last season. He was a four year starter and all-conference player for the Panthers of Eastern Illinois. Wertz is from Orland Hills, Illinois and attended Andrew High School.
