Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release

SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Sugar Land Skeeters and third baseman Patrick Palmeiro powered past the Camden Riversharks, 13-2, in front of 3,036 fans at Constellation Field on Two Steppin' Tuesday. The win improves the Skeeters' record to 65-69 on the year.

Much like the night before, the Skeeters managed to put up a crooked number to take an early lead in the bottom of the second. Chris Wallace worked a leadoff walk to open up the inning before Johan Limonta followed with a double down the left field line to put a pair in scoring position. Palmeiro rifled a single into the right-center alley for his first RBI of the evening and a miscue from Zach MacPhee in right allowed Limonta to trot home without a throw, giving the Skeeters a 2-0 lead.

Camden cut the Skeeters lead in half in the top of the fourth on a solo home run from Paddy Matera to lead off the inning, moving the score to 2-1. After working through the rest of the inning unscathed, Gallagher moved past Matt Wright for the most innings pitched in a single season.

The Riversharks would come back to tie the game in the top of the sixth. Much like the top of the fourth, Evan Crawford blasted a leadoff home run to move the score to 2-2 before Gallagher retired the next three batters in order.

Palmeiro came through in a big way again for the Skeeters in the bottom of the sixth. After Kevin Russo doubled inside the bag of third and Wallace worked another walk, Palmeiro blasted a three-run mammoth of a home run for his fourth-RBI of the night, regaining the 5-2 lead for Sugar Land.

The Skeeters put the game out of reach in the bottom of the seventh with a five-run frame. Jeff Dominguez and Russo each reached with singles to start the frame before three-straight walks to Scott, Wallace and Limonta brought home a pair of runs. Palmeiro tied the all-time single-game record for RBI with a line drive single into center, scoring one. Osuna brought home a run with a double play and a passed ball allowed another run to score, moving the score to 10-2.

Sugar Land put up three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to extend the lead to 13-2 before Chris Treibt closed out the game in the top of the ninth to secure the victory for the Skeeters.
