MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (SEPTEMBER 15, 2015) -- Chicago Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler is expected to continue his Major League rehabilitation assignment with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, throughout the remainder of the Mills Cup Championship Series, which shifts back to Myrtle Beach for the final three games of the series. The Pelicans are one win away from capturing their first Mills Cup title since 2000, and they will host Game Three of the set on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.

Soler, rehabbing an oblique strain, has played three games with the Pelicans in the postseason, hitting .300 (3-for-10) with two runs scored, two doubles, and a run driven in. He has walked twice and struck out four times. The outfielder has played all but three innings, limited to six innings in his first game on Friday in Game Three of the Southern Division Championship, and he has served as the Pelicans right fielder, hitting exclusively in the third spot in the batting order.

Soler, 23, is in his first full season with the Cubs. He made his Major League debut last season and spent the final month of the year with Chicago, seeing action in 24 games. In the Majors, Soler is batting .265 with 18 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, and 42 RBI in 90 games played. He has also struck out 111 times while drawing just 29 walks. This is his second stint on the DL this season.

A native of Havana, Cuba, Soler signed with the Cubs as an amateur free agent in 2012. He defected from Cuba in 2011 and signed a nine-year, $30 million contract on June 30, 2012.

A 6-foot-4-inch, 215-lb. right-handed batter, Soler was ranked the Cubs' No. 3 prospect by Baseball America entering the 2015 season.

Soler is the second Major League rehabber the Pelicans have received this year. Outfielder Chris Denorfia was received from the Chicago Cubs on a Major League rehab assignment on April 11. He played two games with the team on April 12 and 14 before departing from his rehab assignment on April 17.

Before Denorfia, the Pelicans had not hosted a Major League rehabber since All-Star Tim Hudson made two rehabilitation starts in Myrtle Beach on July 23, 2009. Soler is the tenth MLB rehabber in team history.

Game Three of the Mills Cup Championship Series can be heard live on 1450 WRNN-AM ESPN Myrtle Beach, on the TuneIn Radio App, and via the MiLB First Pitch App, beginning with the Pregame Show at 6:45 p.m. ET. The game will also air along with live streaming video on MiLB.tv (subscription required).
