 York Revolution

Revs Enjoy Happy Homecoming with Third Straight Win

September 14, 2015 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution continue to finish strong as the 2015 regular season winds down, and moved to a second-half best 11 games over .500 on Monday night with a 5-2 win over the Long Island Ducks. Logan Williamson battled through seven strong innings, setting the stage for some late York offense in taking the first of a three game series to begin the final homestand of the year.

Long Island jumped on top in the third, when Elmer Reyes homered to the left field alley for a 1-0 lead. The Revolution wouldn't take long to respond, when Bryan Pounds dropped a bases loaded single into center field in the home half of the third, scoring two for the first Revs lead of the night. Andres Perez and Brandon Boggs each scored after a single and a walk, respectively.

Reyes, who had three hits in the game, was a thorn in York's side most of the night. He struck again in the fifth, tying the game 2-2 by crushing an RBI double to left, which scored Cody Puckett after his single.

That would be the last blemish of the night on Williamson however; the York southpaw scattered seven hits in seven innings, with three strikeouts and three walks. Both runs against him were earned, but he earned his eighth win of the season thanks to some insurance runs and a 1-2-3 ninth by Josh Judy (two strikeouts, his 12th save).

The Revolution took their second and final lead in the seventh when Eric Patterson led the frame with a single, and he was sacrificed to second by Wilson Valdez. Patterson scored a batter later when Perez singled to left field, to make it a 3-2 game. Telvin Nash destroyed his 10th home run of the season in the eighth over the big wall in left, a two-run shot after Pounds was hit with a pitch to begin the inning.

Ducks starter Bobby Blevins did not factor into the decision; in six innings he scattered seven hits and both runs against him were earned as well. Blevins walked two and struck out five. Former Revs right-hander Ricardo Gomez was saddled with the loss, allowing two hits and the Perez game-winning RBI single in the seventh in his lone inning of work.

Judy cruised to the save from there, and Nash's homer marked just the third time in Revolution history that the club has six players with double-digit home runs in a season. The 2010 and 2011 championship clubs also reached that milestone.

Notes: Perez' RBI in the seventh was his league-leading 81st RBI of the season. Nash (2-for-4) has now hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, batting .390 on that stretch. He now has five home runs in his last 10 games and four in his last five home games. The Revs have now hit a league-high 23 home runs in 13 games in September. The win is the Revs' fifth straight at home. York improves to 37-26 in the second half, remaining within 3.5 games of Lancaster for first place. In addition to winning three straight overall, the Revs have won eight of their last 10 games and nine of their last 12 contests. It marks the 33rd comeback win of the season for the Revs, within three of tying the club record of 36 (2008, 2012). York righty Matt Neil (3-8, 4.75) will oppose Ducks right-hander Bruce Kern (9-5, 3.38) in Tuesday's contest at 6:30 p.m. It is Fall Fest and Halloween Preview Night presented by Burlington Stores. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
