September 12, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

OREM - In the elimination game of the Pioneer League South division playoff series, the Owlz did not go down easy. It was a great game of baseball from both teams as they looked to move forward to the championship game. Jaime Barria and Julio Pinto got the starts for Orem and Idaho Falls respectively. Barria had a great start for the Owlz going his longest stint on the season. He delivered six strong innings while giving up only two earned and striking out six. Great pitching and batting by Orem was not enough to move forward in the ten-inning 5-4 loss.

The Owlz broke out of the gates early in the first inning as David Fletcher hit a double and then came around to score on Jeff Boehm's RBI single. The Chukars scored one run in the third inning to tie the game. In their half of the fourth, Idaho Falls was limited to only one run with a great defensive play by Juan Moreno moving to his right and ending the inning.

Orem tied the game in the fifth as David Fletcher began the inning with a lead off walk. He would later score on another RBI single by Boehm, his second on the night.

Idaho Falls battled back in the eighth to even the game at 3-3 as Joshua Banuelos launched a bomb to right field. The Owlz had their chances to walk-off the Chukars in the ninth but Jared Walsh stuck out with Fletcher just 90 feet away. The Chukars then took the lead in the top of the tenth as Nicholas Dini hit an RBI single to plate Rudy Martin.

Overall, it was a great season for the 2015 Orem Owlz baseball club. They finished the overall season with a 41-35 record, third best in the Pioneer League. They made yet another appearance in the post-season after winning the first half division title going 24-14.

Manager Dave Stapleton and staff developed their players consistently throughout the season. This was evident in the number of call-ups that the Owlz had and their performance in the Pioneer League. In fact, Michael Pierson, led the entire league with an outstanding .395 batting average.

Despite all the changes in the roster, the Owlz showed heart overcoming numerous injuries as they battle to the post-season.
