Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Kitchener Rangers announced today they have acquired forward Jacob Tortora in a trade with the Barrie Colts. The Colts will receive Kitchener's 15th round pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, as well as three conditional 2nd round picks in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The 5'6, 151 lbs native of Victor, New York was drafted in the first round, 19th overall by the Colts in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. He amassed 31 goals and 37 assists for 68 points in 52 games played as a member of the GTHL's Don Mills Flyers last season.

He also was a member of the USA squad which claimed the U-17 Five Nations Tournament in Arosa, Switzerland in August.

Tortora will continue to develop as a member of the U-17 US National Team Development Program in Plymouth for the next two seasons.

Rangers General Manager Murray Hiebert is pleased with the acquisition of Tortora, and says it only adds to the promising future of the Rangers.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jacob into the Rangers family. While he won't join us here in Kitchener immediately as he follows through on his commitment to the USNDP, we're confident he will continue to grow and develop as a player.

Jacob boasts some great speed and a natural goal-scoring ability. We look forward to the day he puts on a Rangers sweater."
