Grizzlies Add Three Rookie Skaters

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced today that the team has signed rookie defensemen Jason Binkley and Phil Pietroniro and rookie forward Josh MacDonald.

Binkley, 23, played seven games with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays last season and totaled one goal and one assist after finishing four years of college hockey at Ferris State University. He had eight goals and 60 assists for 68 points in 156 games during his college career and advanced to the 2012 NCAA Championship game. He is a native of Ohio.

Pietroniro, 21, joins the Grizzlies after three seasons of major junior hockey in the QMJHL. He finished seventh among defensemen in the league in scoring last year with 33 points in 49 games on three goals and 30 assists with the Victoriaville Tigres. He was a member of the 2013-2014 QMJHL Champion with the Val d'Or Foreurs and advanced to the Memorial Cup. He is a native of St. Eustache, Quebec and spent a lot of time growing up in Arizona as his father Marco coached the Central Hockey League's Arizona Sundogs from 2006-2012.

MacDonald, 21, had 29 goals and 23 assists for 52 points in 63 games last year with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League. He is a native of London, Ontario.

The Grizzlies home opening weekend is Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 against the Allen Americans.
