Marcuz Re-Signs, Rookie Duhn Added to the Roster

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings, the longest continually operating professional sports franchise in the greater Memphis area, and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser have announced today that they have re-signed forward Ryan Marcuz and signed rookie forward Nick Duhn. Terms and conditions were not released.

Marcuz, 26, has played parts of the last two seasons with the RiverKings, totaling 36 regular season games and six playoff games. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound left wing had a breakout second half of the season with the RiverKings in 2014-15 after earning a promotion from the FHL's Danville Dashers. After joining the RiverKings on January 16, the Richmond Hill, Ontario native posted 18 points (5g, 13a) in 27 games. The RiverKings went 12-1-0 in his first 13 games after being recalled and were 20-7-0 with him in the lineup during the regular season.

"Ryan brings a real solid work ethic and plays with a lot of grit," said Landmesser. "I am looking for him to continue to grow as a player and contribute every night."

The 2nd-year-pro played the first 17 games of his rookie season with FHL-Danville, adding 10 points (4g, 6a), after participating in training camp with the RiverKings. He spent four seasons at SUNY-Morrisville from 2010 to 2014, compiling 56 points (22g, 34a) in 87 games. Marcuz signed with the RiverKings out of college and played in nine games at the end of the 2013-14 regular season, adding two assists.

"I'm very excited and proud to have the opportunity to return to the RiverKings organization," said Marcuz. "I can't wait to get back on the ice with the boys and start building the drive and energy we had last season. I hope to contribute to the team with a lot of points and help win the President's Cup as we redeem ourselves from last year's playoffs."

Duhn, 25, completed his fourth and final season year at Carleton University (OUAA) in Ottawa in 2015. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound forward played in 55 games for the Ravens from 2011 to 2015 and had nine points (4g, 5a).

"Nick is another big body who will add size and grit to our team," said Landmesser. "He's making the jump from college and I feel the pro game will fit his and our style."

The Carp, Ontario native played junior hockey in the Central Canadian Hockey League (CCHL) from 2006 to 2011, playing for Nepean (2006-2008) and Kemptville (2007-2011). During his five seasons in junior hockey, Duhn had 125 points (57g, 68a) in 265 games.

"It's a privilege and an honor to be invited to camp," said Duhn. "I didn't know where my hockey career was headed once University was done, but I'm thankful I got the call from Coach Landmesser. I want to make an impression and compete and hopefully what I give is what the coaching staff wants. No matter what happens I'll be thankful for this opportunity."
