The Greeneville Astros won the Appalachian League Championship over the Princeton Rays, 8-7, at Hunnicutt Field on September 8. Greeneville scored one run in the first inning, three in the third, one in the fourth, and three in the sixth. The Rays scored two runs in the second inning, one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the sixth. Diogenes Almengo got the win for the Astros and the save went to Edgardo Sandoval. Alberto Casanas took the loss for the Rays.
The Astros scored first as Kyle Tucker scored from a single by Conner Goedert. Princeton scored three runs in the second with a home run by Landon Cray, which brought Brett Sullivan and David Rodriguez home. In the third, Greeneville scored three as Tucker hit a home run to bring Myles Straw and Daz Cameron home. Pete Maris followed that up with a home run for the Rays in the third. Greeneville scored one in the fourth with a double by Rodrigo Ayarza to bring Arturo Michelena home. In the fourth, the Rays scored two runs. Rodriguez scored from a ground out by Angel Perez. David Olmedo-Barrera made it home by a single from Jon Popadics. Greeneville scored three more in the sixth. Michelena singled to bring Brauly Mejia home. Ayarza singled as Christian Correa made it home. Michelena scored from a wild pitch. The Rays ended their scoring run on a home run by Cray in the sixth inning.
