Reno Aces News Release
RENO - The Reno Aces (@Aces), in conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks), have announced the contract of outfielder Peter O'Brien has been purchased by the D-backs.
In addition to O'Brien being added to the D-backs' 40-man roster, RHP Jhoulys Chacin (@Jhoulys45), RHP Allen Webster (@11webster11), LHP Andrew Chafin (@BigCountry1739), INF/OF Jamie Romak and RHP Evan Marshall (@emarsh31) were each recalled from Reno to the big league team. Marshall, recovering from a skull fracture that occurred on August 4 at Triple-A El Paso, was placed on the 60-day DL.
In 131 games for the Aces, the 24-year-old O'Brien hit .284 (139-for-490) with 107 RBI, 77 runs scored, 35 doubles, 9 triples, 26 home runs, 270 total bases and a .551 slugging percentage. He set Aces single-season records in RBI and total bases and is just one of two players in franchise history to record 100-plus RBI in a single season. He led the PCL in RBI and total bases while finishing tied for second in home runs and triples, fourth in slugging percentage, seventh in doubles and eighth in OPS (.883).
Romak returns to Arizona for his third stint in the Majors and second with the Diamondbacks this season. In 129 games for Reno, Romak hit .284 (138-for-486) with 100 RBI, 87 runs scored, 42 doubles, 3 triples, 27 home runs, 60 walks and 6 stolen bases. His 27 long balls tied him with Cody Ransom (2011) for the Aces single-season home run record.
Chacin, 27, finished 6-3 with a 3.22 ERA in 13 starts for the Aces. Chacin's contract was officially purchased by the D-backs on August 24, and in two starts for Arizona, he went 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA.
Webster, 25, made 15 starts for Reno and went 4-6 with an 8.18 ERA. This marks the fourth time in 2015 the D-backs have recalled the right-hander. In six games (five starts) for the D-backs this season, Webster posted a 1-1 record and a 5.88 ERA.
Chafin, who was optioned from Arizona to Reno on September 2, appeared in relief one time for the Aces and threw a scoreless inning.
