Micah Johnson Recalled to Chicago Tuesday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Charlotte second baseman Micah Johnson, who hit .315 (98-for-311) with 54 runs scored, 17 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 36 RBIs, and 28 stolen bases for the Knights in 78 games this season, was recalled by the Chicago White Sox today. The White Sox announced the move prior to their game tonight against Cleveland.
Overall in 2015, 12 players were promoted from Charlotte to Chicago. LHP Carlos Rodon (April 20), RHP Scott Carroll (April 26, June 18, & August 1), RHP Daniel Webb (April 26 & May 28), RHP Chris Beck (May 9 & May 28), infielder Carlos Sanchez (May 15), RHP Junior Guerra (June 7), infielder Tyler Saladino (July 10), outfielder Trayce Thompson (August 3), RHP Erik Johnson, catcher Rob Brantly, and infielder/outfielder Leury Garcia, all earned promotions this year. Johnson, Brantly, and Garcia were promoted on September 1st when rosters were expanded. Garcia was promoted on three occasions in 2015, including July 23 and July 29.
Johnson, 24, began the 2015 campaign with the White Sox and hit .270 (20-for-74) with eight runs scored, two doubles, three RBIs, and three stolen bases in 27 games. The Indianapolis, IN native was optioned to Charlotte on May 14. He entered the 2015 season ranked by Baseball America as the number four prospect in Chicago's system. The same publication tabbed him as the Fastest Baserunner in the system heading into the 2015 campaign.
In parts of two seasons with the Knights (143 games), Johnson owns a .296 batting average with 173 hits, 84 runs scored, 27 doubles, eight triples, 10 home runs, 64 RBIs, and 40 stolen bases. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the ninth round of the 2012 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Indiana University.
