Game Recap:

Storm drop two close weekend contests to open up preseason:

The Tri-City Storm began the 2015 preseason with two games in Omaha against the Des Moines Buccaneers Saturday, staying within a goal in the final minutes of each contest but falling in the first game, 4-3, and in the second contest, 6-4.

The 60-minute games were split into two, thirty-minute halves and the Storm showed its prowess in both.

Tri-City scored three goals in the second half of game one, including a tic-tac-toe goal finished by Carson Meyer on a tape-to-tape feed in front of the cage by Dan Labosky. The Storm scored three goals in the last eleven minutes of the second game's first half.

New Storm players Justin Dixson, Shawn Brennan and Brian Hawkinson had tallies.

Des Moines bit Tri-City with late goals in each game. Austin Rook scored the game winner with eight minutes left in the first scrimmage, while the Bucs rallied for four straight goals to finish off Tri-City in game two.

All four Storm goalies - Matt Greenfield, Jake Kielly, Mike Latorella and Justin Kapelmaster - each received 30 minutes of playing time during the doubleheader. Latorella yielded one goal in his appearance, the best of any Storm goalie.
