BILOXI, Miss. - The Chicago Cubs yesterday announced a transaction that impacted their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster.

Outfielder Albert Almora Jr. was placed on the Disabled List. In 106 games with the Smokies this season, the 21-year-old posted a .272 average (110-405), adding 69 runs, 26 doubles, four triples, six homers and 46 RBI. Earlier this week, the Cubs announced Almora Jr. as the organization's Minor League Player of the Month for the month of August after compiling a .352 clip (44-125) along with 22 runs, 14 doubles, one triple, one homer and 15 RBI, recording hits in 28 of those 31 matchups.

The Florida native prior to this season was rated by Baseball America as the seventh-best prospect in the Cubs organization, and is also ranked the No. 99 overall prospect by MLBPipeline.com. The outfielder was selected by Chicago in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Mater Academy in Florida.

Tennessee's roster now stands at 24 players, along with six players on the Disabled List, as well as Cubs pitcher Neil Ramirez on his Major League Rehab Assignment, and a revised roster is attached.

The Smokies are currently playing their final series of the season on the road against the Biloxi Shuckers, with game four of the five-game set set for this evening at 6:10 p.m. ET. Tennessee is anticipated to send LHP Jeffry Antigua (5-5, 4.60) to the hill, while Biloxi is slated to give the ball to LHP Josh Hader (1-3, 2.94).

The Smokies will begin their 2016 campaign at home against the Mobile BayBears on Thursday, April 7, 2016. The full schedule for next season and season ticket information can be found online at smokiesbaseball.com, or by calling the Smokies Ticket Office at 865-286-2300.
