Phantoms & PPL Center Announce "Ice Tech for a Day" Contest

Lehigh Valley, PA - Have you ever wondered what it would be like to help prepare the ice that your favorite Phantoms players skate on? Well the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, in conjunction with PPL Center are offering that unique opportunity to one lucky fan through their brand-new "Ice Tech For A Day" contest.

"When the ice starts to go in that's when you know the hockey season is right around the corner," said Phantoms Executive Vice President Chris Porreca. "You can feel the chill in the air when that process begins and we want to give one lucky fan the chance to experience that excitement up close and personal."

The contest, which begins today and runs through Wednesday, September 9 at 5:00 PM, will give one lucky fan the opportunity to help paint and prepare the ice for the upcoming season, which will first see game action on Monday, September 21st when the Flyers battle the New York Islanders in the first-ever NHL game played in the Lehigh Valley. After a pair of preseason games on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th, the Phantoms will then kick off their second regular season campaign in the Lehigh Valley on Saturday, October 10th.

On the cusp of their 20th season of operation, the Phantoms recently completed their Inaugural Season as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing at the brand-new PPL Center. Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum in Philadelphia before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms. A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center. Through 19 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
