September 4, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Bobby Stahel set the tone for the Grand Junction Rockies on Thursday night at Lindquist Field when he homered on the game's first pitch in a 16-8 win over the Ogden Raptors.

Stahel's third home run of the season started a 5-run first inning for the Rockies, who batted around in the inning. Collin Ferguson started his big night with an RBI double after Mylz Jones reached on an error. The inning was capped off by Chris Keck's two out, two run double.

Ogden scored an unearnred run in the bottom of the inning, but left the bases loaded, and in the second, the Rockies made them pay. Ferguson doubled home a pair, and he scored when Jonathan Piron hit a 2-run homer, his eleventh of the season, putting him in a tie with Ryan McMahon for second most in team history, though they didn't stop there.

Sam Hilliard hit a 3-run homer in the third to make it 12-1, and after Deion Ulmer hit a 2-run homer of his own in the fourth, Hilliard started the fifth inning with his second home run to make it a 10-run game. Hilliard's multi-homer game is the Rockies fourth of the season.

The Raptors scored a pair in the sixth and eighth innings to pull within six, but the Rockies scored three in the ninth to get it to 16-7. It is the fourth time the Rockies have scored that many runs in a game this season, and the first time since July 12.

Ferguson finished with five hits, four RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base, while Jones added three hits and four runs scored. Hilliard, Tyler Nevin, and Cole Anderson added two hits for the Rockies who improve to 11-22 in the second, 31-40 overall.

The Rockies win guarantees them a .500 road trip which will come to an end on Friday when they take on the Raptors at Lindquist Field. It will be their final road game of the season.
