Minnesota Names Frederic Chabot Goaltending Development Coach

DES MOINES, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Thursday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has named Frederic Chabot (pronounced Schuh-bott) as the team's Goaltending Development Coach.

Chabot, 47 (2/12/68), will work with goalie prospects throughout the Minnesota Wild organization, including goaltenders playing for the Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League (AHL). The former NHL netminder joins the Wild after serving as the goaltending coach for the Edmonton Oilers (2009-14). Prior to joining the Oilers, he served as a Goaltending Consultant with Hockey Canada and their National Junior Team, helping Canada win a gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship. Chabot was also an instructor at Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence Goaltending Camp for three years (2007-09). The native of Hebertville-Station, Quebec, worked as a Goaltending Consultant with Berlin (DEL) in 2008-09, capturing the league championship with the Ice Bears. Chabot also worked with AIK Stockholm (SWE-2) from 2007-09, overseeing goaltending for the entire organization.

Chabot played 17 seasons of professional hockey (1989-2006) and appeared in a total of 32 NHL contests with the Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers. He spent a majority of his career playing in the International Hockey League (IHL) and was named the IHL's Most Valuable Player and Top Goaltender in 1999-2000 after going 36-19-7 with a 2.13 GAA and a .920 SV% in 62 games with the Houston Aeros. He was also named MVP of the IHL in 1996-97 as a member of the Aeros. Chabot was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 10th round (#192 overall) of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft.

With the release of the 2015-16 regular-season schedule, the Iowa Wild will make single-game tickets available for purchase starting Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.

The Green-White game is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Arena with a split-squad scrimmage of Iowa Wild players. The game features two (2) 30-minute running clock halves with a short intermission in between the two periods. Fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to gain entrance to the game. The items will be donated to the Bidwell Riverside Center.

The Iowa Wild plays a pair of preseason games, both will be in North Dakota against the Manitoba Moose -the Winnipeg Jets AHL club. Iowa and Manitoba meet in Grand Forks, ND on Fri. Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. The two teams will play a second preseason game in Fargo, ND on Sat. Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.

Iowa begins its third season in the AHL this fall. The team will host Opening Night on Saturday, Oct. 10. Fans may purchase single-game tickets multiple ways, either through the team's website - www.Iowawild.com, the Wells Fargo Arena box office or participating Hy-Vee food stores. Tickets are available online at www.Iowawild.com under the single game tickets tab. The Wells Fargo Arena box office is open Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday. For Saturday game days, the box office will open at 10 a.m. For Sunday game days the box office will open at 12 p.m. Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-844-55-HYVEE or by visiting participating Hy-Vee food stores locations in the greater Des Moines area. Fans interested in buying full season, or smaller season packages may call the Iowa Wild front office at 515-564-8700. In July of 2015, the AHL honored the Iowa Wild by naming it the Western Conference's Best Fan Experience.

The Iowa Wild 2015-16 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team's 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play its 2015-16 season at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
