Alberto Walks-Off on Rockies

Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

With two out in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night at Brent Brown Ballpark, Ranyelmy Alberto hit a 2-run walk-off home run sending the Orem Owlz to a 10-9 win over the Grand Junction Rockies.

Alberto's home run was his eighth of the season, and it followed a Kenny Towns double off Hunter Brothers who retired the first two men in the inning. The homer gave the Owlz their first lead of the night

Anthony Brito started the game with a single, and after Bobby Stahel reached on an error, he scored on a wild pitch and a throwing error on catcher Angel Genao. Stahel scored when Mylz Jones singled to give the Rockies a 2-0 lead.

Brito and Collin Ferguson brought home runs in the second inning to double the lead, but the Owlz rallied in the bottom of the inning with five straight two out hits to get within a run, only to see the Rockies grow the lead in the third.

Chris Keck scored an unearned run in the third to make it 5-3, but they added three in the fourth. After Sam Hilliard tripled, Ferguson singled to put the Rockies three, then with two out, Chris Rabago homered for the third time this season to make it 8-3, but Orem got those three back in the bottom of the inning, and scored a pair in the fifth to tie the game.

The score stayed tied until the eighth when the Rockies got back-to-back-to-back singled from Hilliard, Ferguson and Jones, the last of which was a bunt single down the third base line.

Grand Junction falls to 10-22 in the second half, 30-40 overall. Hilliard, Ferguson and Jones had three hits. Brito and Elvin Paulino added a pair.
