Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

OREM - Ranyelmy Alberto last hit a homerun for Orem back on July 18th, but tonight came through with a two out walk-off homerun over the left field wall, sending the Owlz to a 10-9 win. Trailing 9-8 entering the 9th inning, the Owlz were down to their final out as they sent pinch hitter Kenny Towns to the plate. He ripped a double on the first pitch he saw putting him in scoring position to at least tie the game. But Alberto did even better, smoking it to left for the two run jack, his 8th this season.

Orem had to battle back all night long, as they trailed 8-3 heading to the bottom of the 4th. Catcher Angel Genao, one of the stars of the night, came through with an RBI single to help cut into the lead. Later in the 5th, Genao hit an RBI triple, as the Owlz tied the game at 8-8. That hit left Genao just a homerun shy of the cycle. He struck out in his next at bat, and remained on deck when Alberto hit the game winning homerun. Genao did finish with a season high 4 RBI's to go along with 3 runs.

In the top of the 8th the Rockies regained the lead off an RBI bunt laid down by Mylz Jones. He led the way for Grand Junction with three hits and two RBI's. The loss drops the Rockies to 10-22 in the second half of the season.

Orem's bullpen had a lot of work to do tonight with starter Grayson Long being on an inning count. Jacob Peterson came through big for them, going 3 and 2/3 innings while giving up just four hits and striking out two. Adam Hofacket gets credited with the win, his fourth of the season as he retired the side in the 9th inning before the walk-off.

Make sure to join us tomorrow night for the start of a series against the Idaho Falls Chukars. You can watch it on KPDR-19 or listen at audio.oremowlz.com.
