Parks and Slack to Play in Arizona Fall League

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (SEPTEMBER 2, 2015) - On Tuesday, rosters were announced for the 2015 Arizona Fall League season that begins Tuesday, October 13, and two members of the Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have been named to the team. RHP Adam Parks and LHP Ryne Slack were selected as members of the Surprise Saguaros, the Arizona Fall League roster made up of players from the Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, and Seattle Mariners organizations. Additionally, RHP John Fasola, RHP Sam Wolff, INF Jurickson Profar, OF Lewis Brinson and OF Ryan Rua were also named to the Saguaros' roster. Profar, Brinson and Rua have all played for Frisco.

Parks, 22, is pitching in his second professional season with the Rangers' organization. The right-hander has compiled a 5-7 record with a 2.92 ERA over 53 career games. Parks began the 2015 campaign with Class-A Hickory before a promotion to Advanced-A High Desert, and is now with the RoughRiders. The Rangers selected Parks in the 33rd round in 2014 from Liberty University.

Slack, 23, has posted impressive numbers since joining the Frisco club on August 2. In nine Double-A games, the left-hander has allowed one run on five hits over 13.1 innings. Slack owns a career 24-5 record with a 3.90 ERA in 116 games. With High Desert, Slack went 7-1 in 29 games and struck out 54 hitters compared to just 18 walks.

Brinson, 21, was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock on August 31. He hit .291/.328/.545/.873 with six home runs, eight doubles, a triple and 23 RBI in 28 games with the RoughRiders after a promotion from Advanced-A High Desert on July 31. The outfielder was honored as the California League's Player of the Month for July. Brinson leads all Rangers farmhands in batting average (.324). The Floridian owns a career .280 batting average with 60 home runs and 210 RBI.

Rua, 25, began the season as the Rangers' starting left fielder, but missed half the year with a broken ankle. The former RoughRider is currently playing for the Express and in 34 games is hitting .178 with four homers and 17 RBI. Rua played in 94 games with Frisco across two seasons (2013-14) and hit .283 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI. Round Rock as well. He was named a Texas League Mid-Season in 2014 after a selection to both the Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star team in 2013 with Class-A Hickory.

Profar, 22, has missed the last two seasons with shoulder injuries. He has played in 94 career games with the Rangers and owns a career .231 average with seven home runs and 28 RBI. Profar played in 126 games for Frisco in 2012 and hit .281 with 14 homers and 62 RBI and was named to both the Mid and Post-Season All-Star squad.

Wolff, 24, spent last season with Advanced-A Myrtle Beach, where he put up a 3.37 ERA in 120.1 IP. He has missed all of the 2015 campaign due to an Achilles injury suffered this spring.

Fasola, 23, is a right-handed pitcher who has spent the season between Hickory and High Desert, combining a 3.91 ERA in 50.2 IP.

The Arizona Fall League is a six-team league with players from all 30 Major League clubs. The schedule consists of games three days per week in six different Cactus League stadiums.

In addition High Desert Hitting Coach Bobby Rose will serve as the team's hitting coach. At least one coach from each Major League organization represented on the roster of players is on each staff in the Arizona Fall League, and each of the five teams places at least six players on the roster.

Last fall, former RoughRiders Pat Cantwell, Nick Williams, Cody Kendall, and Josh McElwee all played for Surprise.
