Lexington Legends News Release

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The Lexington Legends will close out the 2015 season with five home games September 3-7, with everything from bobbleheads and fireworks to a jersey auction and an ice cream social on the agenda. The Legends will also recognize the accomplishments of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah with special jerseys resembling jockeys' silks for the Saturday, September 5 game.

"These are the final games of 2015, but there will still be plenty of excitement at the ballpark," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea. "We have a wide variety of promotions, and our Play Ball event Saturday morning, followed by an afternoon game, is a great opportunity for a family outing - one more trip to the ballpark before the season ends."

The Legends, class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, will take on the Hagerstown Suns, an affiliate of the Washington Nationals, in a five-game series.

The schedule:

Thursday, September 3: Legends vs. Hagerstown, 7:05 p.m. The Legends will recognize one of the most exciting players in their 15-year history with a Terrance Gore bobblehead, which will be given to the first 1,000 fans through the gates. Gore, who appeared in the 2014 World Series with Kansas City and was just called up to the Royals again this week, played for the Legends in 2013. Possibly the fastest runner in the sport, Gore stole 68 bases in 76 tries for Lexington. He was a perfect eight-for-eight for the Royals in 2014, including three steals in post-season play.

The Legends are backing the fund-raising efforts of UK DanceBlue with DanceBlue Night, also on Thursday.

DanceBlue, which has as its theme "For the Kids," is a year-round campaign for the DanceBlue Kentucky Children's Hospital pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. The effort culminates in a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon on the University of Kentucky campus.

For the Legends' DanceBlue Night, a portion of ticket proceeds will go to support DanceBlue. DanceBlue Box seat tickets will be sold for only seven dollars each online in advance of the game, using the promocode FTKLEGENDS. Tickets for groups of 20 or more will be sold for six dollars each, and groups will receive five DanceBlue 2016 spirit points for each member of their group who attends the game. Spirit points are part of the competition among groups and organizations who take part in DanceBlue.

Special DanceBlue-related promotions will take place throughout the game.

Thursday is also the final Kentucky Ale Thirsty Thursday of the season, and beer and Pepsi products will be on sale for one dollar each.

Friday, September 4: Legends vs. Hagerstown, 7:05 p.m. Friday is "Jersey Off Our Back" Night. Fans may bid on the jerseys the Legends will be wearing. All proceeds will go to KentuckyOne Health/St. Joseph Hospital.

A Ford Fireworks show, the last of the season, will follow the game.

Saturday, September 5: Play Ball event, 10 a.m.; Legends vs. Hagerstown, 1:35 p.m. At 10 a.m. Saturday, the Legends and Whitaker Bank Ballpark will serve as host for an event that is part of the nationwide Play Ball initiative. Play Ball is supported by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and is designed to encourage physical activity while building connections between communities and the sport of baseball. Locally, the Legends are teaming up with Lexington Parks and Recreation in support of the Play Ball program.

Saturday's Play Ball event, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 10 a.m.-12:15 p.m. The event includes inflatables, pitch/run activities on the field and a meet-and-greet with Legends players.

For Saturday afternoon's game, the Legends will wear jerseys resembling the silks worn by jockey Victor Espinoza as he rode American Pharoah to racing's Triple Crown.

Sunday, September 6: Legends vs. Hagerstown, 2:05 p.m. The annual Jif Kids Club Ice Cream Social with Legends players will take place after the game. All Kids Club members are encouraged to bring their membership cards to get their free ticket for the game. The ice cream social is a Kids Club members-only event, but there is no charge to join the Kids Club, and information is available at www.lexingtonlegends.com under Community.

Monday, September 7: Legends vs. Hagerstown, 1:35 p.m. Monday's game is the last of the 2015 season, and the Legends will say thanks to fans with Fan Appreciation Day, including special giveaway items.

Monday is also Kids Eat Free day, and kids age 12 and under will receive a voucher for a free meal and drink as they enter the ballpark.
