Memphis Stuns Z's with Three in Ninth

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds stunned the New Orleans Zephyrs by scoring three ninth inning runs in a come from behind 6-5 victory at AutoZone Park.
Memphis loaded the bases in the ninth off of Zephyrs closer Nick Wittgren. A pair of hits and a two out walk set the stage for a base clearing double by pinch-hitter Ed Easley gave the Redbirds the walk-off win.
The Z's pounded out a season high six doubles in the ballgame. In the second inning the Zephyrs got three doubles in the inning and scored a pair of runs. The Zephyrs led 2-1 in the sixth inning when Austin Wates delivered a bases loaded double to score three and extend the Zephyr lead to 5-1.
Anthony Garcia hammered a two run home run in the sixth inning to make it a 6-3 game. Z's starting pitcher Travis Blackley exited the game working six innings allowed three runs on four hits in a no decision.
Heath Wyatt (3-0) earned the win pitching two shutout innings for the Redbirds.
Memphis improved to 69-70 and the Zephyrs fall to 56-83.
GAME NOTES
The Zephyrs six doubles set a new season high. The club had five doubles as a season high in three other games.
Wittgren suffered his fourth blown save of the season in 21 opportunities.
ON DECK
The Zephyrs continue their final roadtrip of the season on Thursday. The Zephyrs will take on Memphis at 7:05. New Orleans will start RH Trevor Williams (0-1, 3.38) against TBA.
