Team Black Beats Team White 6-5 in Annual Calgary Hitmen Intra-Squad Game

Calgary, AB - Brandon Lesko scored the game winner with 7.4 seconds left in regulation time lifting Team Black to a 6-5 come-from-behind win over Team White in the annual Calgary Hitmen Intra-Squad game played at Max Bell Centre on Monday night.

Trailing 5-2 with just under seven minutes remaining, Team Black scored four unanswered goals to produce the victory.

Jake Bean (1g, 1a), Landon Markovich (1g, 1a), Beck Malenstyn (2a), and Noah Geekie (2a) all had two points each for Team Black who was outshot 37-27. Kyle Dumba (15/16) and Jacob Latrace (16/21) combined to make 31 saves in the win.

Taylor Sanheim and Carsen Twarynski both had a goal and an assist for Team White in the loss.

After the game the Hitmen trimmed their roster to 32 players; 19 forwards, 10 defencemen and three goalies.

The Hitmen open their seven-game exhibition schedule on Thursday, September 3 in Regina against the Pats. The schedule also features the first-ever pre-season game at the Scotiabank Saddledome when the Hitmen host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday, September 13 in a 3:00 p.m. start. Tickets, $5 for adults and $2 for kids 12 and under (includes convenience fees), are available now at Ticketmaster locations and the Scotiabank Saddledome box office.

Calgary will then begin their 72-game 2015-16 regular season schedule with a home-and-home series against the Kootenay ICE. It begins on Friday, September 25 in Cranbrook before returning to the Scotiabank Saddledome for the Adrenalin Source For Sports Home Opener on Saturday, September 26. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
