Wild Things Fall to Boomers 9-3

Schaumburg, IL - The Washington Wild Things fell to the Schaumburg Boomers by a score of 9-3 at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium Tuesday night.

Washington took the lead in the first inning when Scott Kalamar doubled to score Sam Mende. The Boomers came back to take the lead in the third when they scored two unearned runs.

Andrew Heck plated Austin Wobrock in the fifth to tie the game, but Schaumburg added a run in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead.

The Boomers pulled away with five runs in the seventh inning, including a Ty Nelson solo home run.

Washington tacked on a run in the eighth inning when David Popkins drove Kalamar in to take the score to 8-3.

Schaumburg answered with an insurance run in the bottom of the frame.

Luke Wilkins (7-5) suffered the loss for Washington allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits, walking five and striking out four in 6.1 innings.

Washington and Schaumburg meet for game two of the series Wednesday afternoon when first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on WJPA 1450 AM or at www.msasports.net. The Wild Things return to CONSOL Energy Park for their final 2015 series Friday when they will host the Windy City Thunderbolts. Tickets are available at the CONSOL Energy Park Box Office.
