LISTEN: ESPN Radio 1380 AM / TinCaps.com / TuneIn Radio App

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps outlasted Lansing, 11-9, in a 3 hour, 44-minute marathon. Fort Wayne, which trailed 4-0 after two and 7-5 after three, broke a 9-9 tie with a pair in the top of the ninth.

ROSTER MOVE: Starting pitcher Thomas Dorminy has been placed on Fort Wayne's Temporary Inactive List. (Death in family.) In turn, the Padres have transferred left-handed starting pitcher Jose Castillo to the TinCaps from the Short-Season A Tri-City Dust Devils. For more on Castillo, see Page 2.

AUGUST REVIEW: The TinCaps went 21-7 in August, making it their most successful month of the season. Of the other 15 teams in the MWL, no one else won more than 18 games. Fort Wayne's 2.55 ERA for the month was second to only Quad Cities (2.46).

QUEST FOR DIVISION TITLE: With 7 games left in the regular season, the TinCaps have a 4-game lead on West Michigan for first place in the second half. That makes Fort Wayne's magic number for a division title 4. The TinCaps visit West Michigan Wednesday-Friday. Fort Wayne hasn't had the best record in a half since 2009.

PLAYOFF BOUND: The TinCaps officially clinched a playoff berth on Sunday for a 7th season in a row, the MWL's longest active streak. (Cedar Rapids has the second longest active playoff appearance streak at 3 years running.) The first round of the playoffs begins Wednesday, Sept. 9. Fort Wayne will play the other second half qualifier, while Lansing (first half champs) is set to face Great Lakes (first half wild card).

FRANCHISE RECORDS: The TinCaps have set a significant franchise record this season and matched another. From July 17-Aug. 27, Fort Wayne won 17 consecutive home games. (The previous franchise record for consecutive home wins was 15, set in 2009.) The TinCaps won 10 games in a row overall from Aug. 8-19, matching a franchise record that also had been set in '09.
