OC Blues FC's Chris Cortez Named USL Player of the Week

Orange County Blues FC forward Chris Cortez was named the USL Player of the Week for Week 24, as announced by USL today. Cortez was too hot to handle in arguably his best game of the season, scoring twice in the Blues' 3-1 victory over Portland Timbers 2 on Saturday night. Forward David Estrada was also instrumental in the victory, notching two assists and he also earned recognition from the league, making the squad of the USL Team of the Week.

The Blues next host local rival LA Galaxy II on Saturday, September 5th, in what has become the biggest match of the season. LA sits in 2nd place in the Western Conference, while Orange County sits in 3rd, and with a win, the Blues would further solidify their spot in the playoffs with only three games remaining after Saturday. Kickoff from Anteater Stadium at UCI is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
