Beresford, Rodriguez Named IL All-Stars

September 1, 2015 - International League (IL1) - Rochester Red Wings News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - Rochester Red Wings first baseman Reynaldo Rodriguez and second baseman James Beresford have been elected International League Postseason All-Stars, the league office announced Tuesday.

Beresford ranks second in the league with a .314 batting average and 148 hits. He has compiled a team-best 46 multi-hit games, including 11 three-hit games. The .314 average would be a career-high for Beresford, who was also started at 2B for the IL in the Triple-A All-Star game and finished 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. The mid and postseason selections for Beresford are the first All-Star selections for the 26-year-old Australian. He is the most recent second baseman from Rochester elected to the IL Postseason All-Star Team since Tommy Hinzo in 1993.

Rodriguez has been named a Postseason All-Star for the second straight season, joining his Eastern League selection in 2014. He leads the IL with 55 extra-base hits and 77 runs scored while ranking in the top four in doubles (2nd, 33), slugging percentage (3rd, .456), RBI (4th, 77), total bases (4th, 215) and triples (T-4th, 7). Rodriguez also leads the Red Wings with 15 home runs, 12 stolen bases and 38 walks. The 29-year-old Columbian has also appeared in 33 games in the outfield along with 87 at first base.

The two are the first pair of Rochester teammates on the IL Postseason All-Star team since Jose Morales and Kevin Slowey in 2007.

Buffalo's Matt Hague was named International League Most Valuable Player. Charlotte's Erik Johnson earned Pitcher of the Year honors while Norfolk's Ron Johnson was honored as the Manager of the Year.
