Former IceHogs Captain Returns to Rockford on PTO

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, announced on Monday that the team has signed veteran forward Jake Dowell to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Dowell, 30, returns to Rockford after spending time in the NHL with the Blackhawks (2007-11), Dallas Stars (2011-12) and Minnesota Wild (2012-14). The gritty winger also saw action in the AHL with the Houston Aeros (2012-13), Iowa Wild (2013-14) and Hamilton Bulldogs (2014-15). Last season with the Bulldogs, Dowell recorded 15 points (5g-10a) and 75 penalty minutes after appearing in all 76 regular season contests.

The Eau Claire, Wis. native was drafted by the Blackhawks in the fifth round (#140 overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and spent four seasons with the organization.

Dowell compiled 60 points (20g-40a) and 288 penalty minutes over the course of three seasons with the IceHogs from 2007-10. He also served as the team's captain during the 2009-10 campaign.

In 102 career games with the Blackhawks (2007-11), Dowell registered nine goals, 17 assists and 80 penalty minutes. Overall, the veteran center has appeared in 157 career NHL tilts with 33 points and 133 PIMs.

Season Tickets for 2015-16 Now on Sale: Ticket packages, including full season, half season, and mini game plans, are on sale for the IceHogs 17th season of professional hockey and ninth as the top AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. Individual game tickets will go on-sale on Thursday, Sept. 17 beginning at 9 a.m.
