RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA - A five-run outburst in the fourth inning helped end Rancho Cucamonga's three-game skid, as the Quakes secured an 8-3 triumph over San Jose in the series finale at LoanMart Field on Sunday evening.

The Quakes (31-32, 72-61) were trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth when they went to work against Giants' starter Jordan Johnson (2-2). Nate Samson started the rally with a double to left field. Jacob Scavuzzo followed with a single to right. Cody Bellinger delivered a base-hit to right field, scoring Samson for his team-leading 97th RBI of the season. Tyler Ogle singled to load the bases. Willie Calhoun stroked a single up the middle, plating Scavuzzo. With the bases still loaded, Josmar Cordero's grounder to third resulted in an error against Ryder Jones. Bellinger hustled home on the play, giving his club a 3-2 lead.

With right-hander Jeff Soptic summoned from the bullpen and the bases still loaded, the Quakes continued to produce runs. Joey Curletta singled to center field, scoring Ogle. Spencer Navin hit a sacrifice fly to right field, chasing Calhoun home for a 5-2 margin. In total, Rancho Cucamonga sent ten men to the plate in the fourth inning and produced six hits.

San Jose (39-24, 69-64) tallied the initial run in the third inning against right-hander A.J. Vanegas, who was making his first start of the season for the Quakes after 32 relief appearances. Daniel Carbonell launched a solo homer to center field for his fifth of the season, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

The Giants added another run in the top of the fourth against reliever David Reid-Foley (1-0). Jones led off the inning with a double to left field. Brian Ragira's groundout pushed Jones to third. Tyler Horan singled to right field, plating Jones for a 2-0 edge.

Trailing 5-2, San Jose drew closer in the sixth inning against left-hander Jose Molina. Angel Villalona opened the frame with a single. Jones followed with a base-hit, setting up runners at first and second. Ragira's grounder to shortstop resulted in an error against Samson to load the bases. Ty Ross grounded out to Ogle on a diving play at third base, but Villalona came home to trim the deficit to 5-3.

Rancho Cucamonga tacked on some insurance runs in the seventh against Giants' reliever Luis Ysla. Scavuzzo started the inning with a double off the left field fence. Bellinger's groundout advanced Scavuzzo to third. Ogle walked, placing runners at the corners. With Calhoun batting, a wild pitch by Ysla allowed Scavuzzo to sprint home. Calhoun walked to set up runners at first and second. Cordero singled to left field, scoring Ogle. Curletta followed with a double to center field, chasing Cordero home from first to make it an 8-3 contest.

For the second time in the last week, infielder Dillon Moyer entered to pitch in the top of the eighth inning. The right-hander tossed a scoreless frame, surrendering a leadoff walk before striking out two of the next three batters. Joe Broussard worked around a pair of hits in the ninth inning to end the Quakes' skid at three straight losses and four consecutive setbacks at LoanMart Field.

San Francisco Giants' rehabbing outfielder Angel Pagan started in a second straight game for San Jose, going 0-for-2 with a first-inning walk. He was replaced by Seth Harrison in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Giants' seven-game winning streak came to an end.

The Quakes snapped a six-game losing streak against San Jose this season, having lost all four at Municipal Stadium in late May before dropping the first two at LoanMart Field over the weekend.
