Main Camp Scrimmages Highlight Hitmen Training Camp on Sunday

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club opened the on-ice portion of their 2015 Main Camp on Sunday with four practices and two scrimmages at Don Hartman North East Sportsplex (5206 - 68 Street NE). Each game consisted of a pair of 30 minute straight time periods with penalty shots replacing powerplays. Below is a recap of each contest.

Game 1: Team Red 5 Team White 1

Carsen Twarynski had two assists to lead Team Red who got goals from five different players; Coltyn Bates, Zach Zorn, Beck Malenstyn, Ben Thomas and Lucas Yovetich. Brendan Burke (11/12) and Cody Levesque (6/6) combined to make 17 saves in the victory. Isaiah Lentendre scored the lone goal for Team White.

Game 2: Team Black 2 Team Grey 1

Trent Halfdanson netted a pair of goals, including the game winner on a penalty shot, to lead the Team Black scoring attack. Goaltenders Jake Davidson (15/15) and Kyle Dumba (13/14) backstopped the victory. Daniel Ramsey was the goal scorer for Team Grey.

Main Camp continues tomorrow at Don Hartman North East Sportsplex with four scrimmages. Monday's first game starts at 8:30 a.m. with all on-ice sessions free and open to the public.

Training camp will wrap up with the annual Calgary Hitmen Intra-Squad game on Tuesday, September 1 at 7 p.m. The contest will be hosted by the AJHL's Calgary Canucks and played at the Max Bell Centre (1001 Barlow Trail SE). Adult tickets are $5 and child tickets $2 with all proceeds supporting the Canucks.

Tuesday, September 1

Max Bell Centre

7:00 - 9:30 p.m. Annual Hitmen Intra-Squad Game (Black vs. White)

Note: Rosters are available at each training camp venue.

The Hitmen open their seven-game exhibition schedule on Thursday, September 3 in Regina against the Pats. The schedule also features the first-ever pre-season game at the Scotiabank Saddledome when the Hitmen host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday, September 13 in a 3:00 p.m. start. Tickets, $5 for adults and $2 for kids 12 and under (includes convenience fees), are available now at Ticketmaster locations and the Scotiabank Saddledome box office.

Calgary will then begin their 72-game 2015-16 regular season schedule with a home-and-home series against the Kootenay ICE. It begins on Friday, September 25 in Cranbrook before returning to the Scotiabank Saddledome for the Adrenalin Source For Sports Home Opener on Saturday, September 26. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
