Vancouver Takes Series Finale In Spokane; Tops Indians 3-2

(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - A three-run top of the 6th inning helped the Vancouver Canadians to a come from behind victory over the Spokane Indians on Sunday afternoon.

The Canadians called upon LHP Turner Lee to make a spot start in the final game of the season against the Indians as Lee had made 21 appearances for Vancouver but all out of the bullpen. Lee allowed two runs over his 4 2/3 innings of work on seven hits including a solo home run off the bat of Indians 1B Dylan Moore. The native of Alabama would strike out five and keep the Canadians within striking distance heading into the 6th inning where Vancouver would reward his efforts.

In the 6th inning, Vancouver would send seven hitters to the plate chasing Spokane starter RHP Cody Palmquist with Canadians catcher Ryan Hissey grabbing a two-run double that scored both 2B Ryan Metzler (single) and 1B Justin Atkinson (single) to even the game. Seconds later, 3B Gunnar Heidt would ground out scoring Hissey giving the Canadians a 3-2 lead.

That run would be the last one of the game as the Canadians bullpen got 4 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball from the trio of LHP Bob Wheatley (1.1IP), LHP Stuart Holmes (2.0IP) and RHP Andrew Case (1.0IP) with Case recording his 10th save of the season.

With the win, Vancouver improves to 15-17 through 32 second half games and 31-39 overall on the 2015 season. The Canadians are now 3 1/2 games back of North Division leading Everett who are in action on Sunday evening against Tri-City. Six games remain on the regular season schedule.

Notes: The Canadians finish 7-5 against the Spokane Indians in 12 regular season meetings against its North Division rival.
