Ottawa 4, Garden State 3

The top half of the Ottawa Champions was more than efficient at the plate and they boosted the Champions past the Garden State Grays 4-3.

Leadoff man 2B Albert Cartwright and SS Chris Winder each went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Behind them, CF Sebastien Boucher went 2-for-3 with an RBI and LF Mike Schwartz added an RBI on one hit. For the Grays, RF Charley Thurber went 2-for-4 with an RBI and both 3B Luis Gonzalez and 1B Vincent Guglietti each added an RBI.

Starting pitcher Drew Granier picked up the win as he went seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits. He recorded eight strikeouts. Reliever Alan DeRatt earned the save for closing things out in the ninth.

Trois-Rivieres 5, Quebec 4

The Trois-Rivieres Aigles edged the Quebec Capitales 5-4 to take a 2-1 lead in their four-game set.

For the Aigles, 2B Jose Cuevas went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the way. CF Steve Brown, C Kyle Lafrenz and RF Sasha LaGarde each added an RBI on one hit. For the Capitales, CF Yuniesky Guriel went 3-for-5 with two RBI and both 1B Joash Brodin and 2B Yordan Manduley added a pair of hits.

Starting pitcher Charles Gillies was credited with the win for working six innings and allowing two runs on seven hits. Reliever Kaohi Downing worked the ninth and picked up the save.

Sussex County 5, Rockland 1

The Rockland Boulders struck first but the Sussex County Miners scored five unanswered runs to claim a 5-1 win.

CF Jared McDonald scored in the top of the first inning on a double from LF Stephen Cardullo but a solo shot from RF Ryan Matthews in the second tied the score. In the third, CF Jamal Austin scored on an error and LF Johnny Bladel scored on a single by 1B Kenny Bryant. The Miners added two more insurance runs in the sixth when DH Jon Talley scored on Matthews' triple and Matthew scored on a wild pitch.

Starting pitch Michael Suk earned the win as he worked eight innings on allowed one run on six hits.

New Jersey 12, Gary SouthShore 7

The New Jersey Jackals scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull away from the Gary SouthShore RailCats 12-7.

For the game, the Jackals racked up 15 hits and four different batters had multi-hit games. C Tony Caldwell went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored and SS Peter Mooney went 3-for-6 with three RBI. Both 3B Jared Schlehuber and DH A.J. Kirby-Jones went 2-for-3. Schlehuber scored three times for the Jackals.

For the RailCats, four different batters had two hits in the game including CF Jon Jones who went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in the fifth.
