Darnell (5-1) ran his scoreless stretch to 15.0 straight innings and 21.1 without an earned run allowed before the PawSox (54-81) plated a run in the sixth on Carlos Rivero's RBI double. Darnell's ERA as a starter this season is at 1.02 in six starts. He fanned eight batters one start after throwing a five-hit complete game shutout with nine strikeouts on Monday in Syracuse.

The Red Wings (70-65) jumped out early as Santana hit his first Triple-A home run to open the game against Pawtucket starter Edwin Escobar (2-3). In his next at-bat in the third inning, Santana also homered. He had played 49 Triple-A games and had 211 at-bats without hitting a home run with Rochester before tonight.

With the help of Santana, the Red Wings led 2-0 and added three more in the fourth. James Beresford singled home two runs with the bases loaded and Reynaldo Rodriguez added a sacrifice fly to extend the Rochester lead to 5-0.

Santana finished with half of the Red Wings six hits in five at-bats with two homers, two RBI and three runs scored. He has multiple hits in his last four games. Michael Tonkin tossed a scoreless ninth and has worked 9.2 straight scoreless innings with the Red Wings.
