Wild Things Defeat Otters for 700th Franchise Victory

Washington, Pa - The Washington Wild Things defeated the Evansville Otters by a score of 7-2 at CONSOL Energy Park Saturday night. The victory is the 700th in The Washington Wild Things' Franchise history.

Cody Herald, from East Butler, Pa., was the star if the night, with two runs, two doubles, four RBI, and a stolen base!

The Otters got on the board in the first inning with a run, but Washington roared back in the second inning when Herald smacked a double to the left field fence, driving in three runs. Several batters later, Herald was walked in to score giving Washington a three run edge.

The Wild Things added two more runs in the third inning when Herald doubled again to drive in Danny Poma who had doubled. Herald went on to steal third and score.

Evansville added another run in the sixth, but Washington answered in the bottom of the inning when Catcher Maxx Garrett belted a solo homerun to give Washington a 7-2 lead.

Matt Fraudin earned the win for Washington allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out four in 7.1 innings. Steve Messner allowed no hits and struck out three in 1.2 innings.

The Otters and Wild Things meet for the rubber match Sunday when first pitch is scheduled for 2:35 p.m. The Wild Things return for their final homestand of the 2015 season next weekend when they will host the Windy City Thunderbolts for three games.
