LINCOLN, NE- The Sioux Falls Canaries continued their four-game series against the Lincoln SaltDogs at Haymarket Park on Friday night.  The Birds took a one-run lead into the bottom of the 9th inning for the second straight night, but ultimately fell to the SaltDogs by the final score of 7-6.

Starting pitcher Ray Hanson (1-0, 5.25 ERA) made his second for the Canaries, and held the SaltDogs offense to four runs on seven hits over six innings.  The right-hander recorded a season-high five strikeouts and four walks in the start, and left the game in the 6th inning with a 5-4 lead.

The Canaries extended their lead to 6-4 in the top of the 7th inning after Cody Bishop reached base on a one-out single, and later scored on a Chris Grayson RBI double.

Rookie reliever Chris Anderson was the first out of the bullpen, facing four batters, but allowed a one-out solo home run to Curt Smith making it a one-run game.  RHP Benny Suarez allowed one hit in a scoreless bottom of the 8th, before turning the ball over to closer Chase Johnson in the 9th.

Johnson hit lead-off batter Matt Forgatch to lead off the inning, before a Jerome Pena error allowed the tying run to score.  CJ Ziegler ended the game two batters later with a deep fly ball to right-center, with Grayson and center-fielder Cody Bishop colliding, and dropping the ball.  Smith scored the winning run from first base to complete the walk off win for Lincoln.

Brian Humphries led the Canaries offensive attack going 2-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored. Brett Balkan also had a good night, posting a 2-for-5 night with a double and an RBI.  Grayson finished the night 2-for-5 with an RBI and run scored.

The Canaries continue their four-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs on Saturday night, with Papillion, NE native, Stephen Bougher (4-5, 4.19 ERA) making his 15th start of the season.
