Springdale, AR - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals took the series finale from the Springfield Cardinals, 9-1, before 7,157 fans at Arvest Ballpark on Friday night.

The Naturals (25-34, 65-64) rallied right out of the gates, putting up eight runs in the bottom of the first. Facing RHP Andrew Morales (L, 4-7), SS Raul Mondesi started the charge with a single. One out later, RF Jorge Bonifacio and 2B Alex Liddi knocked consecutive singles to load the bases. CF Lane Adams then cracked the scoreless tie with a two-run double off the left field fence, followed by a walk from 3B Hunter Dozier to reload the bases. After 1B Frank Schwindel dunked down a broken bat single, Morales gave way to RHP Joey Donofrio midway through the plate appearance of C Parker Morin. Morin wound up with an RBI walk, before LF Terrance Gore followed with an RBI free pass of his own. Mondesi, in his second at-bat of the inning, came through with a two-run single, followed by an RBI groundout from DH Bubba Starling to drive in the frame's final run, accounting for the early 8-0 Naturals lead.

Donofrio quieted things down on the mound, wrapping up the first before posting a scoreless second and third. However, Northwest Arkansas struck in the bottom of the fourth. With one down, Bonifacio pulled a solo shot to left field, increasing the Northwest Arkansas lead to 9-0.

Following the Bonifacio homer, LHP Ryan Sherriff retired the final two outs in the bottom of the fourth, before keeping the Naturals at bay through the remainder of his scoreless 3.1-inning outing.

The Naturals, though, received five scoreless innings from RHP Kyle Zimmer (W, 2-4), followed by scoreless relief innings from RHP Kevin McCarthy and RHP Mark Peterson.

The Cardinals (27-33, 57-73) broke through with their first run of the contest against RHP Malcom Culver in the top of the eighth. SS Breyvic Valera started the stanza by reaching on a dropped-catch error on LF Terrance Gore. Two outs later, with Valera on at second base, LF Mike O'Neill drove an RBI single to center field, plating Valera to get the Cardinals on the board, 9-1.

Culver avoided any further damage in the eighth, before dealing a scoreless ninth to close the 9-1 win for Northwest Arkansas.
