August 28, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters would fall behind in the bottom of the first inning as Batavia picked up a 6-0 win on Friday night at Dwyer Stadium. The Cutters had their chances offensively stranding 13 runners on base. The Cutters magic number for clinching the division drops to four with West Virginia losing to Mahoning Valley. The Cutters lead the Black Bears by 7 games for first place in the Pinckney Division.

The Muckdogs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against Cutters starter Alejandro Arteaga. Williamsport's offense looked to get back into the game against Batavia starter Jordan Holloway. Holloway would retire the first eight Cutters he faced before Dylan Bosheers picked up a two out single in the top of the third inning. Zach Coppola would follow with a single of his own to move Bosheers into scoring position. Both would be left on base to end the inning.

Williamsport had very few chances through the early portions of the game to try and tie things up. Batavia would double their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning against Arteaga. The first two outs of the inning would be a breeze but a pair of hits and walks would lead to two runs scoring to make it 4-0. The Cutters loaded the bases up in the top of the fourth inning with one out as they looked to rally.

The inning kicked off with a walk to Bosheers that would be followed by a single from Coppola. Mark Laird, who was the hero the previous night against Batavia looked to get the Cutters on the board. He would draw a walk to load the bases. The Muckdogs would survive the jam and get out of the inning with their lead intact. Arteaga worked 5 2/3 innings allowing five runs on seven hits. He also struck out seven batters while walking three.

Trailing 5-0 the Cutters would turn to Feliberto Sanchez as he would work the final 2 1/3 innings of the game.
