(Buffalo, NY) - Pawtucket's offense collected 12 hits including homers from Chris Marrero and Mike Miller and the PawSox held off a late Buffalo rally to tie a season high with a fifth-consecutive victory by defeating the Bisons, 7-6, on Friday night to complete a sweep in the two game series.

Pawtucket starter William Cuevas (2-2) allowed two runs and recorded six strikeouts in five innings to earn his second Triple-A victory. The PawSox (54-80) have now won ten of their last 15 games and have recorded back-to-back series sweeps for the first time this season.

After Buffalo trailed 7-2 following Mike Miller's sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth, the Bisons scored four times against reliever Robby Scott in the bottom of the frame. Scott allowed four straight hits with one out and was relieved by Noe Ramirez, who allowed a walk and an RBI single to Caleb Gindl that made the score 7-5.

Buffalo then had an opportunity to tie the score or take the lead with the bases still loaded, but a diving catch in right field by Jonathan Roof prevented a sacrifice fly by Dalton Pompey from becoming a multiple-RBI hit. Instead the Bisons had to be content to pull within one run, 7-6.

Then with the tying and go-ahead runners in scoring position, a nice play by shortstop Deven Marrero on Munenori Kawasaki's slow chopper retired the side. Ramirez then worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record his third save of the season.

Pawtucket scored six consecutive runs earlier in the contest to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 6-1 lead after the top of the sixth. Chris Marrero's first long ball as a PawSox tied the game at 1 in the second against Buffalo starter Andrew Albers (2-10). The PawSox then took the lead for good in the third with a pair of runs highlighted by another RBI hit by Chris Marrero.

Miller's second homer of the week and third of the season came against reliever Colt Hynes in the fourth and extended the lead to 4-1. Roof and Sandy Leon each had RBI hits against Donn Roach in the sixth to increase the Pawtucket lead to five runs.

The Bisons scored once in the bottom of the sixth on the first of two George Kottaras RBI singles.

Leon, Chris Marrero, Marco Hernandez and Roof each collected a pair of hits for the PawSox.

The PawSox five-game road trip now continues to Rochester for the next three days. Game one of the series is scheduled for a 7:05pm first pitch on Saturday night. Left-hander Edwin Escobar (2-2, 4.76) is expected to start for the PawSox while the Red Wings counter with southpaw Logan Darnell (4-1, 3.05). Radio coverage on 920 AM (WHJJ) and also streaming online begins at 6:50 pm.

The PawSox return home on Tuesday, September 1st to welcome Lehigh Valley at the beginning of the final homestand of the 2015 season. Good seats are still available at the McCoy Stadium box office, by calling (401) 724-7300 or by visiting pawsox.com.
