WILDCATS' THIRD-PERIOD COMEBACK SPOILS STRONG GOALTENDING PERFORMANCE

Garrett Johnston scored the game-winning goal with under seven minutes remaining, leading the Moncton Wildcats to a 3-1 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs in QMJHL preseason action Thursday at Harbour Station.

All of Moncton's goals came in the third period.

Eric Leger tied the game early in the final frame while Zach MacEwen finished off the Wildcats' (4-1) scoring with a power play goal into an empty net with four seconds to go. Kevin Klima added three assists.

Sam Povorozniouk had the lone marker for Saint John (3-2), a power play goal early in the second period.

The loss spoiled a strong performance from Sea Dogs overage goaltender Marc-Antoine Turcotte. He turned aside 33 shots, including multiple breakaway opportunities.

Sebastien Dupre picked up the win in goal for Moncton with 24 stops.

Payment plan options are also available with the first payment scheduled as early as June 1st. OFFENCE BARKS LOUDLY IN VICTORY OVER WILDCATS

Matthew Highmore scored twice and linemate Matt Green added a goal and two assists to lead the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 7-3 victory over the Moncton Wildcats in QMJHL preseason action Saturday at Harbour Station.

Adam Marsh found the net for Saint John (3-1) on his 18th birthday while Samuel Dove-McFalls, Joe Veleno and Daniel Del Paggio chipped in with a goal each.

The Sea Dogs piled up five goals in the second period to take over on the scoreboard.

Zack MacEwen, Cameron Askew and Matthew Klebanskyj replied for Moncton (2-1).

Alex Bishop picked up the win in goal in relief, allowing only two goals on 19 shots in just under thirty minutes of work. Starter Marc-Antoine Turcotte gave up one goal on 19 shots in the first half of the game.

Sebastien Dupre was tagged with the loss in the Moncton goal after allowing six goals on 19 shots in the first two periods. Overager Zachary Fortin allowed one goal on 15 shots in the third period.

SEA DOGS CRUSH TITAN IN BATHURST

Adam Marsh and Sam Povorozniouk each scored twice as the Saint John Sea Dogs defeated the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, 8-2, in preseason action at KC Irving Regional Centre.

Matthew Highmore chipped in with a goal and two assists for Saint John (2-1) while Thomas Chabot, Luke Green and Adam Bateman also scored. Nathan Noel and Jason Bell added three assists apiece.

Felix Boivin and Egor Popov responded for Acadie-Bathurst (0-3) in front of 1,554 fans in attendance.

Alex Bishop earned the win in goal, stopping all 16 shots he faced in just over thirty minutes of work. Marc-Antoine Turcotte stopped 16 of 18 shots in relief, including a penalty shot by Titan first-round pick Antoine Morand.

Daniel Vautour was charged with the loss for the Titan after allowing three goals on 15 shots in more than thirty minutes. Tanner Somers gave up five goals on 22 shots after taking over midway through the second period.

SEA DOGS RECALL REID, LURETTE

The Saint John Sea Dogs have recalled forward Ben Reid and defenceman Pierre-Luc Lurette.

The Sea Dogs selected the 5'10", 173-lb. Quispamsis-native Reid in the seventh round (119th overall) of the 2015 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.

He had 13 goals and 29 points in 35 games last season with the Saint John Vito's of the NB/PEI Major Midget Hockey League (NBPEIMMHL). He posted one assist and four penalty minutes in two preseason games with Saint John.

Lurette, 17, was chosen in the sixth round (100th overall) in the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft.

The native of Val-d'Amour, New Brunswick, registered four goals and 13 points in 43 games last season with the Campbellton Tigers of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL). He had two shots on goal in one preseason game for the Sea Dogs.

With several Saint John skaters away at NHL training camps, Reid and Lurette are expected to be available to play when the Sea Dogs open the regular season on Saturday, September 12th, at 7 p.m. against the Halifax Mooseheads at Harbour Station.
