Eugene Emeralds News Release

EUGENE, Ore. - Tyler Alamo hit a game-winning RBI single in the eighth and the Eugene Emeralds defeated Spokane, 2-1, on Thursday in front of 4,028 fans on Portlandia Night at PK Park.

Clad in "flannel" tops and "skinny jean" baseball pants in tribute to the IFC sketch comedy show, Eugene (18-11, 35-32) kept its lead in the Northwest League South Division standings with the victory.

Eugene starter Ryan Kellogg went three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Reliever Adbert Alzolay (5-2) picked up the win after tossing six innings of one-run ball with two hits, no walks and nine strikeouts. Eugene pitchers recorded 15 strikeouts on Wednesday before tallying 11 more on Thursday.

Adonis Paula put the Emeralds ahead in the bottom of the fifth when he launched a solo home run high over the fence in left, his second of the season. Spokane answered back with a solo shot of its own in the seventh, when Dylan Moore hit his sixth of the year.

Eugene broke the tie in the eighth on Alamo's game-winning single. Andrew Ely lead off the inning with a walk before moving to second on a sacrifice bunt. He came home from second on Alamo's single to right center.

Up Next: The Emeralds open a three-game series with Hillsboro tomorrow at PK Park.
