Owlz Comeback Falls Short vs Rockies

August 28, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

GRAND JUNCTION- The Orem Owlz had their sights on bringing back to back wins to the Beehive state in their final stop in Grand Junction for the year, but a sluggish start and a late inning push just wasn't enough as the Owlz fall to the Rockies 8-5 as the two game series is spilt at 1-1.

The night started off with the Rockies plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning, which included a home run by Chris Keck to put the Owlz in a hole early. If that wasn't bad enough, the Owlz didn't see their first hit of the night until the fourth inning where Jeff Boehm hit a single, but was left on base to keep the lead 3-0 in favor of the Rockies.

After the Owlz got their first hit of the inning, the Rockies plated three more runs and put the Owlz in an even bigger hole trailing 6-0. Tanner Lubach stepped up in the fifth inning and hammered home the first run of the night as it sailed over the left field wall and that sparked the Owlz.

After the home run the Owlz scored three runs in the sixth and added one more in the seventh to cut the lead to a two run game, but the Rockies plated one more run in the eighth and ended the comeback hope for the Owlz.

Jamie Barria started things off on the mound for the Owlz and he saw his record fall to 2-3 as he received the loss pitching three innings and striking two runners in that time.

Next up for the Owlz they will head north, as the I-15 classic continues this time in Ogden for a four game series vs the Raptors on the road.
