Wildcats' Third-Period Comeback Spoils Strong Goaltending Performance

SAINT JOHN - Garrett Johnston scored the game-winning goal with under seven minutes remaining, leading the Moncton Wildcats to a 3-1 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs in QMJHL preseason action Thursday at Harbour Station.
All of Moncton's goals came in the third period.
Eric Leger tied the game early in the final frame while Zach MacEwen finished off the Wildcats' (4-1) scoring with a power play goal into an empty net with four seconds to go. Kevin Klima added three assists.
Sam Povorozniouk had the lone marker for Saint John (3-2), a power play goal early in the second period.
The loss spoiled a strong performance from Sea Dogs overage goaltender Marc-Antoine Turcotte. He turned aside 33 shots, including multiple breakaway opportunities.
Sebastien Dupre picked up the win in goal for Moncton with 24 stops.
Saint John's final preseason game is Friday, August 28th at 7 p.m. against Moncton at the JK Irving Centre in Bouctouche.
The opening game of the regular season is Saturday, September 12th, at 7 p.m. against the Halifax Mooseheads at Harbour Station. Tickets are available at the Harbour Station Box Office, online at harbourstation.ca or by calling 657-1234.
