Bats Win Third Straight, Defeating Indians, 2-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky - The Louisville Bats (63-70) won their third straight, defeating the Indianapolis Indians (77-56), 2-1.

The Bats and Indians went six and a half scoreless innings until Juan Silva sent one out to the patio deck for the Bats two-run lead. The Indians didn't go down without a fight in the top of the ninth, an RBI single from Corey Hart cut the lead in half, 2-1 but it was not enough.

Right-hander Robert Stephenson (4-2, 3.13) went four innings, gave up just four hits, no runs, walked two and struck out two in his ninth start for the Bats.

The win went to right-hander Carlos Contreras (W, 2-2, 3.13) who came in to relieve in the top of the seventh. Righty, Miguel Celestino finished out the top of the ninth and earned his first save.

The righty for Indianapolis, Tyler Glasnow (1-0, 0.81) went six innings and gave up one hit to the Bats, allowed no runs, walked two and struck out five. The loss went to Bobby LaFromboise (L, 1-2, 3.00).

The Bats and Indians will finish the split series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. before traveling to Columbus. Pitching for Louisville is to be announced and for Indianapolis, right-hander Chris Volstad (10-6, 3.36) will start.
