August 27, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release

He's guided the Toledo Mud Hens to more wins than any other manager in team history. Larry Parrish is retiring at the end of the season, and on Saturday, August 29, the Mud Hens will host a special pregame ceremony at Fifth Third Field to thank him for his hard work and dedication over the years as team skipper.

Parrish has served as Mud Hens Manager in 1994, from 2003-2006, 2008-2010, and from 2014 to the present. That includes back-to-back IL Governors' Cup championships in 2005 and 2006, being named Minor League Manager of the Year by the Sporting News in 2005, and being elected to the International League Hall of Fame as a manager in 2013. Parrish also managed the Detroit Tigers in 1998 and 1999.

As a player, Parrish spent 15 years in the majors with Montreal, Texas and Boston, and was a two-time All-Star (1979, 1987). He hit .263 with 256 home runs and 992 RBI over his MLB career. Parrish also played two seasons in Japan.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early on Saturday. Members of the Detroit Tigers organization will take part in the pregame ceremony.

On August 29, the Mud Hens take on Indianapolis at 7 p.m. For tickets, call 419-725-4367 or order online.
