Arkansas Travelers News Release

North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers edged the Tulsa Drillers 2-1 on Wednesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.

2B Sherman Johnson launched a two-run home run in the first inning and that was all the Travs needed.

LF Ruben Sosa led off the first with a single to left that extended his hitting streak to 14 straight games, the longest of the season for any Travelers player. The next batter, Johnson, launched the two-run shot, his seventh of the season, to right to put the Travs up 2-0.

Drillers 2B Brandon Dixon lined a solo homerun to left off RHP Michael Brady (W, 7-5) in the second, but Brady only surrendered the lone run over 6.1 innings. Brady allowed five hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Dixon finished 3-for-4 and a triple shy of the cycle.

Over 53.1 innings pitched at Dickey-Stephens Park this season, Brady has 52 strikeouts and has not walked a single batter.

RHP Ross Stripling (L, 3-5) allowed the two runs on four hits over five innings.

Arkansas was held without a hit after the second inning.

RHP Eduard Santos (H, 11) tossed 1.2 hitless innings after Brady and RHP Danny Reynolds (S, 10) earned his 10th save of the season after working a scoreless ninth.

The win for Arkansas was its seventh in a row and the Travs moved to four games ahead of the Springfield Cardinals atop the Texas League North second half standings.

Arkansas and Tulsa will play game three of the four-game series on Thursday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
